Welcome!
Clarence needs your help.
A current rezoning application is threatening the Town's MasterPlan, is challenging recommendations made by the Town's Planning Board to DOWNGRADE the zoning in Segment B, which has been pending for a year, and is threatening the quality of life of the residents of Town of Clarence.
To set the record straight:
- We are not against Wegmans. We are all long time loyal Wegmans shoppers. They are a great company who do limitless things for the community and for their employees. Wegmans has other options to build their new store in the Town of Clarence.
- We are not against development in the Town of Clarence.
- We ARE against a developer's (Bella Vista Group) socially irresponsible and ill-conceived proposed project that is TOO LARGE on a site that is TOO SMALL and is located far TOO CLOSE to residential homes.
Why do we oppose the rezoning of Segment B and support the MasterPlan?
- MasterPlan 2015 is an important document which was adopted by the Town Board in 2001 to regulate growth and protect existing residential neighborhoods THROUGHOUT the Town of Clarence, not just along the Transit Road corridor..
- The Town Planning Board and an extensive Transit Road corridor study already recognize that it is important to limit the size and depth of development in Segment B to allow for a gradual transition in scale and use to existing residential neighborhoods.
What can you do to help?
- Attend the Town Board Public Hearing: It is important that everyone be present and show their support for the MasterPlan, the Town Planning Department, and the Town Planning Board's pending recommendation to DOWNGRADE the zoning of Segment B from Marjor Arterial to Commercial.
- Contact the Town Board: Send an email to the Town Supervisor Scott Bylewski (sbylewski@clarence.ny.us) and voice your opposition to the rezoning of Segment B.
- Get Involved: ClarenceFirst Homeowners Association is growing in membership each day. We do not only represent those who live in the Highland Farms and Rolling Meadows neighborhoods. Send an email. Contact the Association and volunteer to help.
We need to send a clear message to Bella Vista Group and the Town of Clarence Board that the residents of Clarence and Western New York value community and neighborhoods FIRST.
Thank you very much for your cooperation and support!!
